MY INTERNSHIP WITH THE MESC
Connecting with my culture
The Middle Eastern Student Commission is an ASUW group dedicated to the middle-eastern students on campus. We hold events and get involved in student politics to create fun, community, and opportunities to explore cultures for our constituents. I was hired as the Intern Event Planner for the year, and it's been fun to meet so many people from the same or similar backgrounds. In the past, I've never had the opportunity to connect with my own people, so this has been an amazing experience already!
CULTURE FEST
Culture Fest was the most important event of the year for the MESC. It’s our magnum opus where we bring Middle Eastern countries together to celebrate our cultures and appreciate the beauty that each country brings. It was so amazing to see this event that we worked on all of Spring quarter come to life with food, music, clothes, and decorations beyond comparison. I felt so much pride in not only my culture, but the work that we did to share it all with the community.
